camouflage by kiki-doodle camouflage by kiki-doodle
An experimental painting I did for FC. I sort of thought I’d fail it most of the way through, so one of the few times where I use a majestic frame I DIDN’T plan for.

Lots of wet on wet, masking and fun.
I’ll get a high res scan of this later if anyone is interested in prints.

This is cool, reminds me of Graeme Base for some reason...

I had never heard of him, so I looked him up!  I guess we both love details and animals :)!

Very beautiful work. I love the color scheme and the washes in the background.

I do offer prints of the piece by itself (so, artwork, no frame) for $8 for 8.5x11. I haven't yet made any larger prints, though.

Very cool, but I especially like how the matting seems to become part of the painting there on the left.

This is a really cool style. The only thing that bugs me is how much the little zebra and the big one are hard to tell apart, even though one is colored and the other isn't. Maybe leaving a white border in the big one around the outside of the little one would make them more separate looking. It might look a little better with less blurring of the colors in the background as well. But this picture is still awesome, I love the unique style you've done:D

Thank you! I want to do a few more of these with other animals, and I may approach those ones differently :) My original thought, when I first thought of doing the piece, was that everything would sort of blend together as their stripes are primarily designed to be camouflage. and that value and color would be the primary things to set them apart. Since it's experimentation, I definitely can improve upon the concept for the next pieces! Thanks for your suggestions :)
