Dreaming of what's beyond the grotto
This was originally a piece I started for a demo 3 years ago or so. I liked the layout, so I re-drew most of it, and worked it to finish!
This will be a limited edition 13x19″ print.
"Ugh," the Dragon groaned. "As much as I hate how blinding the Sun is, I can't help but wonder... What's it like outside the grotto?" The Dragon crawled to the mouth of his cave and groggily lunged up on a clutch of stalagmites, his beady eyes squinting harder at the light. Outside, a trio of small, yellow birds flew by, tweeting and fluttering their wings jovially. Despite the blinding light, the Dragon could see their humble shadows zipping by before perching upon a small branch. "Oh, how I envy you avians," the Dragon lamented. "If only my wings weren't so weak and flimsy." He spread his small, fragile wings, and tiredly flapped them, water dripping from the tips. "Some day," he muttered. "Some day... I'll crawl my way out of this boring tide pool, and I'll witness the outside world in its full splendor... Some day..."
